Saint-Gobain is multinational materials manufacturer, best known to consumers in North America for their CertainTeed brand of construction materials. Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, based in New York state, manufactures silicone materials – NORSEAL® Silicone, previously known as COHRlastic® Silicone.

Stockwell Elastomerics’ Use of Saint-Gobain Products

Stockwell Elastomerics is been a long time supplier of Saint-Gobain silicones and maintains inventory of most NORSEAL silicone products for fast gasket production. In addition, Stockwell Elastomerics is a 3M Preferrer Converter and laminates acrylic and silicone pressure sensitive adhesives to most NORSEAL silicone products. Stockwell Elastomerics’ in-house die cutting, waterjet cutting, and flashcutting allow for quick turn custom silicone gaskets made from NORSEAL / COHRlastic silicone products.

COHRlastic Silicone

Starting with the COHRlastic brand name, Saint-Gobain has been a longtime leader in quality and high performance silicone sponge and solid silicone rubber. The COHRlastic silicone sponge family of materials included: R10400, R10404, R10450, R10460, R10470, and R10480. Also included in the COHRlastic sponge line is R10490, a unique fluorosilicone sponge, and COHRlastic Strip-N-Stick® gasket tapes.

Products in the COHRlastic solid silicone product family include 9030, 9040, 9050, 9060 and 9070, which are specification grade solid silicone sheet materials made with peroxide catalyst. Also in the COHRlastic solid silicone rubber family is 9235 and 9255 high tear strength silicone rubber sheets.

COHRlastic becomes NORSEAL

In late 2014, Saint-Gobain announced the transition of the brand name COHRlastic into the NORSEAL brand. The NORSEAL brand is best known for its PVC foam glazing tapes but there is variety of polymers and products in this brand portfolio.

The transition from COHRlastic Silicone Rubber to NORSEAL Silicone is a change in brand name only; the products and the individual product names (e.g. R10470) remain the same. Stockwell Elastomerics recognizes both brands of silicone sponge sheet and solid silicone sheet materials.
