My great-grandfather founded Stockwell Rubber Company, Inc. 86 years ago as a distributor of mechanical rubber products such as hose, belting and packings made from natural rubber and leather. Although these items have not been in our product line for over two decades and the scope of our business continued to evolve over the years, we retained our original name out of tradition.

Most of products we provide these days are fabricated or molded from specialty elastomers – such as silicone rubber, Poron® cellular urethane, silicone foam, silicone sponge, electrically conductive elastomers and thermally conductive elastomers – materials that were not even conceived of when Stockwell Rubber Company was founded. To more accurately represent our products and capabilities, our name will transition to Stockwell Elastomerics, Inc. in August 2005.

Although Stockwell Elastomerics, Inc. provides die cut, custom molded, specialty fabricated, laminated and water jet cut components – I believe we are a materials company. Most of our new customers in the Technology Sector find us when they are trying to fix a gasketing or cushioning application – often demanding applications with environmental or performance conditions that may not be met by a generic rubber material. Elastomer describes these newer, high performance materials better than “rubber” – just as we believe Stockwell Elastomerics, Inc. is a better way of describing us.
